RozGolden Moment1

Revolutions Skating Club is honored to have Olympic Silver Medalist and World Champion ROSALYNN SUMNERS as part of “Stars on Aspen Ice.”

Rosalynn grew up in Edmonds, Washington. She began skating at 7 years old and soon fell in love with the sport. By the time she was 15 she had won the US Novice Championships. At 16 she won the World Junior Championships.
In 1982 Rosalynn won her first United States National Chp. She won the US Championships again in 1983 and 1984. Only one US skater has won 3 US titles in a row since 1984.
In 1983 Rosalynn won the World Figure Skating Championships held that year in Helsinki, Finland. After becoming World Champion her home state of Washington named her “Citizen of the Year”, and her hometown of Edmonds renamed their main street Rosalynn Sumners Blvd!
In 1984 Rosalynn represented the United States at the 1984 winter Olympics in Sarajevo. She won the Silver Medal – she was edged out by Katarina Witt by one-tenth of a point, 5 judges to 4 judges.
Roz turned professional after the Olympics and in 20 plus years as a professional she went on to become one of the country’s most popular skaters fully displaying her grace, talent, and beauty. She appeared in over 100 nationally televised skating events as a competitor, performer, commentator, and host.
After 2 years skating with Disney on Ice, Rosalynn became one of the original skaters on the Stars on Ice Tour – the most prestigious skating tour in the world. For 13 years she skated in every Stars on Ice performance – 525 consecutive shows!
In 2001, Roz was inducted into the US Figure Skating Hall of Fame!

When your best friend calls, you answer. That’s exactly what two-time U.S. National Champion and 2010 Grand Prix Final Champion ALISSA CZISNY did when her training partner Jeremy Abbott picked up the phone and asked her to join him for his homecoming tribute to the community December 14 at the Aspen Recreation Center. Czisny, who recently announced her retirement from competitive skating, didn’t think twice. She agreed to help headline one of the most star-studded skating shows Aspen has seen since the ones of past Wintersköl days at “Winterskate” when top skaters like 1980 Olympic Gold Medalist Robin Cousins performed at the Aspen Ice Garden during the annual winter celebration. It was at “Winterskate” in 1990 where Jeremy at age 4 1/2, first saw Cousins perform, changing the direction of his life forever.

Also joining Abbott for the show, presented by Revolutions Skating Club, are other great friends – 1984 Olympic Silver Medalist and 1983 World Champion ROSALYNN SUMNERS; two-time U.S. Bronze Medalists and Two-Time World Team Members in ice dance KIM NAVARRO AND BRENT BOMMENTRE; U.S. medalist and professional skater ASHLEY CLARK; longtime friend, professional skater and choreographer KELLY COCARAN SMITH, and current U.S. national and international competitors, sisters MARIAH BELL and MORGAN BELL.

Friday, December 13, join Jeremy at SILVER CIRCLE at 7PM for a FREE SHOW PREVIEW with all the cast, sponsored by Revolutions Skating Club.
